Foothills Beside the Small Plains
A small stretch of plains spread out beyond the hills to the east before
rising into more rugged foothills. The Spine of the World stretches its

south-west a solitary mountain looms.

Near the Plains
The rugged hills that stretch for as far north as one can see starts to
disappear to the south where instead larger plains and smaller forests take
over. There are some animals stroling along on the plains south which must mean
water and pleanty of food. The hills are east, north and south.

The familly Asberg used to live here, long ago, but when the rain stopped
falling and the valleys between the hills dried out there was just no point in
staying so they moved together with many others south, to civilization. There

Not much is left. Over the hundred of years that the house has been uninhabited

you end in a dead end or some stones have fallen over onto the path so

go on for quite a bit to the north but then some plains takes over and
dominates the landscape. One is now on a grassy hill high above the ground,

Climbing up and down all the time takes a tremendous effort, even for an
experienced climber. At daytime, the sun throws its rays down on the green
hills, making it hotter than the common room in any Tairen inn during the
longest summerday. The larger part of the few animals living in this somewhat
dead terrain mostly comes out at night and sleep all day. One can leave here to
the north, east and west.

If one listens closely one can hear the wind hit the large hills as it sweeps
in from the Aiel Waste and Spine of the World in the far southeast. Large caves
in the hillsides form on some places where the wind passes. Tones can be heard
from some of the caves when the wind dives into them and the wind also carries
sounds from far away among the hills, sounds of animals screaming or the
breaking of dried branches. There are ways leading north, west and south.

On Top of a Rugged Hill
The Spine of the World stretches over out endlessly to the east. It 
seperates the Aiel Waste from the lands in the west and thereby
forms a barrier between two totally different cultures. The terrain

Deep Among the Rugged Hills
Formed over centuries of wind and rain into soft hills, grass sticking 
out of the ground, they totally dominate the surounding landscape. They 
block your way in many directions, for far from all hills are climable, 
but you see possible ways north, east and south.

Two giant hills suddenly open up into a large gorge, a gap. A small path leads
in between the them and the loose soil on the surface of the mountainwalls
makes them impossible to climb. There are also ways south and west.

To the south there is a small cave leading into a large hill. The opening isn't
darkness in the cave makes it impossible to make anything out but a few bones
are thrown on the ground outside. There is a path leading around the hill west
and east while the cave is south.

The path looks quite narrow so be careful not to walk too close to the edge for
the soil there might not be so stable. Since the path is so small there is a
good risk of falling and if you look closely you might see the corpse of a
mare lying on ground some hundred feet below. The narrow path continues east
and north, where it gets slightly wider.

Some birds' nests rest in the middle of the path but there are no eggs in
them. They look to have been abandoned for quite some time. It must be 
because of the heat and drought that is always present in this hilly area.
Vultures alone have great trouble with finding enough food and smaller birds
have little chance when a vulture spots their eggs. The path around the 
rugged hill continues north and south.

Green trees grow not far from the hills to the west and the green grass
stretches for as far as one can see westwards. Here, among these hills though,
the grass is dead and dried up. In the far east one can see some mountains. The
forest is west and the hills continue north and south.

Two large hills towers up to the north and the south. They look quite dead. The
little grass that still grows on them is all dried-up and they're not getting
any water out of the hills themselves for the hills haven't seen rain in ages.
This is indeed the land that the lord of the weather forgot. The lack of water
can do some wierd stuff to a landscape and these rugged hills are begining to
transform into something else. One can go north and south.

Civilization is still far away. All that is out here are rugged hills and
grassy plain with a few trees here and there. The problem is finding the right
way in this enormous hilly area. One can walk for weeks, even months, without
finding ones way and by then one will too tired to resist while the vulture
picks one's eyes out. The hills go on north, south and east.

The distant cry of an eagle echos between the large, rugged hills and spreads
quickly to all the nearby lands for all to hear. The climate among these giant
towers of grass and dry soil is far to rough for most animals but the eagle,
the supreme hunter of the sky, survives by killing what is weak and fragile.
Remember that he is watching you, waiting for the right moment, when you are
too weak to defend yourself, and then he'll strike. The valley continues
east and south.

Winds and rains over centuries have carved and ripped in the soil that are the
rugged hills around you but still they are as powerful as at the world's first
sunrise. The awesome power of nature shows itself in its full glory here, deep
within the rugged hills. And you have to conquer it. Can you do it? The hills
continue west, south and east.

Like a dried-out river this gorge cuts through the hills as if they were
butter. The gap between the hillwalls on the eastern and western side of the
gorge is about fifteen feet and it's easy to get claustrophobic. There is a
legend of a gorge deep within these rugged hills that crushes people that try
to travel through it. If it's this gorge remains to be seen. The gorge is south
and the hills continues north, east and west.

Far North in the Rugged Hills
For a great distance southeast the Spine of the World stands proud and 
functions as a pass, a gateway, between the Waste beyond the mountains
and the world of the so-called wetlanders in the west. But one is now so 
far north that the end of the Spine isn't far to the east. There is a
small path here leading east and north between the rugged hills.

On a Path
To the north rises a large hill. A dusty path winds west and south from
here. Rugged foothills stretch far to the south along the maountain range
known as the Spine of the World.

Here the ravine is quite wide with dusty hills on either side. To the east on
the hill you can see a huge pile of brush that is almost solid it's so dense.
Farther north you see the ravine opening more. The ground here is packed from
game traveling the area.

The valley is quite wide here and is unusually deep for this area. It almost
seems unnatural. The jagged hills surrounding this valley give the impression
of a giant crater. To the north the valley opens further. To the east a rock

The valley floor rises here towards the rim. Farther to the south is the bottom
of this area that looks like a crater. The walls funnel you towards the north
and this appears to be the only exit from this valley heading north. Off to
your east you can hear small stones tumbling down the cliff side.

To the south a valley opens, mostly round in shape. This small gully continues
on to the north. This seems to be a common path for animals and others whose
tracks you do not recognize. The walls here are rather steep and north or south

Around a Large Hill
To the south this faint path enters a narrow gully. There is a large hill north
of you and the path curves around it to the east. The trees here are short and
somewhat stunted and low branches make following this path difficult. It seems
very quiet here and the woods are devoid of life.

The passage between the hills is narrow here. There is no apparent way to climb

You are standing next to the end of a low stone wall. It seems to be very old
and made of an extremely hard substance. The end of it here has tumbled into
the ravine to your north. You may continue around the wall to the east towards
the Spine of the World or west through a twist in the ravine.

a gully where the ground underneath it had been eroded. There is a faint trail
going east along this gully and southward along the wall. The walls of the
gully are too steep to climb down safely.

Overlooking a Gully

You are passing along this odd wall that looks almost like it was grown out of
the earth. If it wasn't so straight you could almost believe it was a piece of
the earth. Just north the wall ends and to the south it goes around a corner to
the west. It's obviously very old but seems almost untouched by time.

This odd wall turns abruptly here to the north and the west. The construction
of this wall leaves no clue to its origin but the quality of it given its age
seems important. Piled at it's base are stone chips that have weathered off
it's face but it remains mostly smooth and looks sturdy.

At the Rock Wall
A path from the south seems to almost dead end into a rock wall here. The wall
is relatively low but too high to hop over and too smooth to climb. Whatever it
is it seems very old. The wall stretches off to the west and to the east you
can see corner in this feature.

You cross a dried streambed here littered with stones, twigs and what looks a
lot like bones. Brambles and low hanging trees block passage up and down the
streambed. The dried mud you can see through the rubbish scattered around gives
you the impression that water comes not often here.

South of you drops an extremely steep incline but seems to be the only way
south of here. To the east this faint path curves again to the north. The hills
form a wall here blocking any movement to the west or the north. Small scrub
and twisted brush tug at you as you pass.

Up and down are the only ways to go here. As you move rocks slide down this
incline and footing here is quite treacherous. Off to either side is a steep
drop-off making this look more like a ramp than a hill. Below and to the east a
dried streambed can be seen with the Spine looming farther to the east.

The large pile of boulders you see off to your west is about the only
distinguishing feature to this area. To the north a hill rises and the going
looks tough. Scrub oak and brush line what could be called a path here. Off to
the east the Spine of the World can just be seen past the hills.

Pile of Boulders
Stacked here in what looks like some sort of pattern are a pile of huge
boulders. No marks can be seen on them and they look almost completely round.
The grass, weeds and bushes here have left a span-wide space around the pile
where nothing grows. The areas seems completely devoid of life.

here. North you can just make out what looks like a large pile of boulders.
South there is a dried streambed that the path crosses. It seems to be quieter

Small hills on either side guide travel here north and south. The path is faint
but easily followed through this desolate area. You can hear faint cries of
animals from either side somewhere over the hills. The hills stretch as far as
you can see north and south.

The going is very tough here with travel apparently only possible north, east
and south. Some scrabbling can be heard here and there in the underbrush. The
bushes seem to grab at you as you pass making travel difficult. Tracks under

shallow as it is you can't see a way to head down without injury. You can
travel south here along the ravine further or head east, towards the Spine of
